When drug kingpin Pablo Escobar died in 1993, having constructed a billion greenback cocaine empire, he left behind a zoo.
Whereas his rhinos, giraffes, elephants and kangaroos had been re-housed, the hippos had been left in Escobar’s deserted ranch within the Colombian countryside.
In 2007 they began turning up 100 kilometres away.
