Water within the Trevi Fountain turned black when local weather change activists launched “vegetable charcoal” into Rome’s well-known landmark.
Protesters from Ultima Generazione (Final Era) standing within the water unfurled anti-fossil gas banners. The group’s web site says it’s campaigning in opposition to “authorities subsidies of fossil gas”.
Rome’s mayor Roberto Gualtieri says town must “throw away 300,000 litres of water” to clean-up the vacationer attraction, as a result of it makes use of recirculating water.
